Today, at Lyttos Beach Tennis Academy, where the 14th European Deaf Tennis Championships had started (19-26 June 2021), Lefteris Avgenakis, Under Secretary of Ministry of Culture & Sports, payed a visit.

He greeted the athletes and the officials of the participating countries, he attended a part of the games and he wished everyone good luck.

  Afterwards, he talked with the President of the Hellenic Sports Federation of the Deaf & President of EDSO Iosif Stavrakakis, the President of the 14th European Deaf Tennis Championship Aspasia Xaxiri, Hellenic Sports Federation of the Deaf Vice President Iacovos Charoulakis, Representatives of European Deaf Sports Organization (EDSO) Anton Petric and Ota Pansky, as well as with the President of the Group S Resorts Pantelis Sapounakis.

 In their conversations, Iosif Stavrakakis referred to the 14th European Deaf Tennis Championships, with a historical record of participants from 16 countries, to the World Deaf Basketball Championships for Men & Women that will be organized at Heraklion, Crete in 2023, and he also referred  to the dream of organizing the Deaf Olympics in Greece. “The presence of the Minister here today is a great honor, his support to the Hellenic Sports Federation of the Deaf is a pleasure”.

 The Minister from his behalf pointed out that “As a country we have the pleasure of hosting the 14th European Deaf Tennis Championships, a high-level organization that the exceptional and dynamic Hellenic Sports Federation for the Deaf organized, confirming that Greece is a safe country, and also Crete and Heraklion completes all conditions to promote sports”.

 The Minister also referred to the contribution of Lyttos Beach Tennis Academy to the sport tourism of Crete, and also talked about joining forces for the promotion of sports in the country.

 The 14th European Deaf Tennis Championships is taking place with the co-organization of the Hellenic Sports Federation for the Deaf, the Region of Crete, and the Municipal Public Benefit Enterprise of Chersonissos. under the auspice of the Municipality of Chersonissos.
